Your visit to the Highlands can include some or all of the following:
- Take in the desolate and haunting beauty of Glencoe, site of the famous massacre in 1692
- Fort William, resting beneath Britain's highest mountain, the 4409ft high Ben Nevis
- the Great Glen, running from Fort William in the west of Scotland to Inverness in the east, passing en route Loch Ness, where you can try a bit of monster spotting. See also Urquhart Castle, a dramatic ruin set on the banks of Loch Ness and legendary home of the monster.
- The historic City of Inverness, frequently burned by marauding clansmen in the past, dramatically so after the Jacobite rebellion of 1745, but now a vibrant, colourful city and capital of the Highlands.
Other places we visit include:

- The Isle of Mull reached via the ferry in Oban
- The Isle of Iona, with its magnificent ruined Abbey dating from 1200 and founded by St. Columba in AD563
- The Isle of Skye with its magnificent wild scenery, Dunvegan Castle in the north of the island and capital of Portree.
- The Orkney or Shetland islands, if you want to travel beyone the far north of Scotland.
