Why is Touring Scotland different?
Run by Fiona Maxwell, a qualified tour guide, it is her personal love and knowledge for her native Scotland that makes Tours in Scotland unique.
"I consider it a great pleasure to share the delights of this beautiful country with visitors. I will do my utmost to ensure that your visit is a happy, enjoyable and memorable one. A warm welcome is always guaranteed."
Fiona has intimate knowledge of the country and knows all the best places to take visitors, including the hidden gems that can be so easily missed. She has extensive knowledge of the history and heritage of both the Lowlands and the Highlands and the Islands, which she shares with visitors enthusiastically, and has also led numerous parties on farm visits throughout Scotland.
Fiona belongs to the Scottish Tourist Guides Association, the Guild of Driver Guides (she is a qualified PCV driver) and the Guild of Registered Tour Guides. She holds the coveted "Blue Badge" - the only qualification endorsed and recognised by VisitScotland
To qualify for the Blue Badge, the prospective guide is required to complete an intensive minimum training period of two years. Guides have to pass numerous written and oral exams, with lectures held at Edinburgh University, and must also complete many months of practical training.
Fiona is also a keen hillwalker and loves introducing people to the hills and glens of Scotland where they can enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the landscape.
Whether you are interested in the beautiful hills, glens and mountains of Scotland, its castles and country houses, or its eventful history and heritage, Fiona will be delighted to be your host during your holiday in Scotland.
